The waitresses were very friendly, but our Sunday lunch was a bit disappointing. My wife found the turkey slightly dry, and my stepmother had the pork belly. My beef could have been more tender, and its Yorkshire pudding looked like a pancake. They replaced it without any fuss when I asked for one that looked like a risen Yorkshire, but I only noticed after paying and leaving that I’d been charged for the replacement as an extra. It’s the principle, not the money. The menu mentioned horseradish and apple sauce, but neither came with the beef or pork, and nobody offered them, so we had to call a waitress over to ask. We’d had many great Sunday lunches here under the previous owners, but this didn’t match those standards. More like a 3.5 star experience than a 5.

We managed to get a table for two at short notice at the George, a popular traditional Inn that’s now focused on good food. The portions were generous, and the food was excellent. We both had three courses and left very full. Staff were attentive and the service was very good. Prices are a little above average, though the food was excellent value.

It was my first visit and I had a lovely meal. The steak was great, and the atmosphere was brilliant. The waitress worked incredibly hard, and all the staff were so friendly. I’ll definitely come back. I didn’t stay, so can’t say anything about the rooms.

The meal was delicious, beautifully plated, and everything tasted wonderful. I should’ve taken a photo of the pork medallions. Our server was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. We only ate there, we didn’t stay, so I can’t rate the rooms, though I’d guess they’re as terrific as the meal and service.

Such a charming little restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour, and you could tell it was prepared with care. The staff were warm and welcoming and made me feel at home. Great quality and service. I’d definitely recommend it.
