We had a Saturday pub lunch and the team were lovely, really friendly and accommodating. The food was a hit: the curried fishcake with a poached egg was very nice, and the venison stew with horseradish dumplings was amazing. There’s a surprisingly big choice of proper draught ales, too. Dogs are welcome, and there are two rooms, one snugger than the other, with beer mats covering its ceiling. Great job, team. Keep it as it is!

We got a really warm welcome when we arrived. The room was a good size, spotless and well located in Histon, with an Indian restaurant across the road and a pub and restaurant just a minute away. Netflix wouldn't work, so the TV options were a bit limited.

We weren't staying at the hotel, so I can't really comment on the rooms. We were working nearby and found this pub by chance, then ended up there three nights running, a first for me. The drinks selection, food and atmosphere made a great impression, and I'll definitely come back if I'm in Cambridge again. The Sunday roast was excellent. I had generous, tender pork belly with all the trimmings. The chips were really good too, and the desserts were rich and comforting, served with custard. It feels like the kind of village pub where you settle in easily and can spend a whole afternoon chatting and trying drinks. The building has two sides joined by the bar: one is smaller and cosier, with a fire, while the other is roomier for bigger groups. There are cosy corners in both.

The manager was very friendly and made time for a chat, which made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the food and drinks at the pub. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed; it was clean enough, though a deeper clean would have helped. The rooms are in a separate block from the pub.
