It’s a wonderfully relaxing place, away from all the bustle, with a real step-back-in-time feel. The decor and traditions aren’t modern, but that’s part of the charm. The room was comfortable and spacious, and the views and grounds were lovely. The staff were fabulous, friendly and incredibly helpful. The food was excellent and beautifully presented in a grand, traditional dining room. The blood orange mille-feuille with pistachio ice cream was superb. We only stayed one night, but could happily have stayed longer.

The grounds are lovely, and both meals were a real highlight: dinner was top class and breakfast was superb. We booked just an hour before arriving while travelling the NC500, when the temperature was dropping to 1 degree C, so we swapped the campervan for a hotel night. Our room was on the small side but spotless and had everything we needed. Everyone we met, from the welcome through to food service, was friendly and made us feel looked after. A real gem if you're passing Invegarry.

We were sorry to leave and get back on the road after lunch. The food was delicious, the service excellent, and the peaceful setting had lovely views down to the water. Before heading off, we walked through the garden and along the bank to the ruins of Invergarry Castle. Stopping here was a great decision.

The lochside setting and lovely Highland surroundings make this historic building quite a sight. Its architecture has plenty of character, and it really stands out as a landmark. Well worth a look when you're in the area.

After afternoon tea, we wandered around the beautiful grounds, where the autumn colours across the privately owned hotel estate were incredible. The tea itself was a treat too: sandwiches, homemade scones with butter, cream and jam, then a few tasty sweet things. We booked late, but that wasn't a problem. It was so quiet I could almost hear the tea infusing. A must if you're nearby.
