Dunskaith Villa

We left because the place was awful. The tiny, poky room had a filthy floor, one stained bed, and the whole building smelled of stale curry. There was just one towel for the two of us for two nights, and we couldn’t have showered anyway. It felt strongly like the owners wanted the most money for the least effort.

We had a one-night reservation, but couldn’t make it because we were in a car crash two days before check-in. Even after we told them with two days’ notice, they wouldn’t waive the fees. This can happen to anyone, and the response showed no humanity at all. I’ll never recommend this hotel.

The wife’s manner on the phone before check-in was short and impolite, and she came across as quite bossy. The front door also wouldn’t close, so anyone from the street could get into the building. With only two rooms having en-suite bathrooms, that didn’t feel secure. The window in the front door was broken when I first stayed a month earlier, and it still hadn’t been fixed, just taped up, which made it seem the owners had no intention of dealing with it. On my second stay, the shower head flew off as soon as I turned it on. To be fair, I called the owners and the husband came to fix it. My first visit had been pleasant, but the later one undid that. I won’t return.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, but it was small and the bathroom was tiny. For nearly $200, I expected more. There was no breakfast, and although we were told there’d be parking for our motorcycles, that changed when we arrived. The only options were a very narrow alley our bikes couldn’t fit into or street parking, where spaces were hard to find unless you parked early. Luckily, people across the street let us use their lot. There was nowhere to sit apart from the small room. Everywhere else we stayed over our eight-night trip had a sitting room, breakfast and parking.
