We stayed in 'The Swan' room, which was spacious, with a king-size bed, two easy chairs, plenty of sockets and plentiful towels. The toiletries were excellent, and there were proper coffee sachets, little milk bottles and two delicious handmade biscuits. Julie and Stephen/Steven were welcoming, engaging and clearly cared about making our stay enjoyable. Their interest in our welfare was evident from arrival to departure. On Thursday, a regular Fish and Chips van came by. Steve and Julie let guests eat inside and provide plates and cutlery, though we had ours out of the paper with a glass of Chardonnay. The fish was excellent, as were the Cabernet Sauvignon and pint of Abbots. One fish was cooked with rice 'flour' for my wife, who is gluten intolerant. The chip portion was ridiculous, but we nearly finished it. Breakfast was a Full English, cooked to order beautifully and served at a lovely bright window table in the bar area. They may even adjust the timing to suit you, and really go out of their way to help. Parking was easy, and Monk's Eleigh is handy for Lavingham, about 5 miles away.

Julie and Stephen were great to communicate with before we arrived, and the welcome was very friendly. Nothing was too much bother. Our overnight stay was superb, with off-road parking, lots of powerful hot water, a super comfy bed and a great breakfast. Thoroughly recommended. See you again next time.

The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of choices and a delicious meal served hot. Our room had all the basics for a comfortable stay, including bottled water and tea and coffee facilities, and the owners were so welcoming and accommodating. They were warm and chatty, and even the pub dog was friendly. We had a delightful stay at the Swan Inn in the charming village of Monks Eleigh. The rooms were cosy and well appointed, and the setting was lovely. All of that made for a memorable visit. I’d highly recommend this inn for a relaxing stay in Suffolk.

We were in the area for a nearby event and spent one night at The Swan with our toddler, in their triple room. Julie and Stephen had sent a useful text beforehand and greeted us warmly. They were so kind to our little one, and we felt very well looked after. The room was immaculate, with lovely linen, a new bathroom and high-quality toiletries. They’ve used the space well and modernised it sensitively while keeping the character of the historic building. There were thoughtful extras, including biscuits for our child, and the relaxed atmosphere made it easy for him to toddle around. We had a drink in the bar, then woke to an excellent breakfast. I had the vegetarian option, my husband had the full English, and they'd already put out a highchair and child-sized cutlery. They happily brought a cup of milk and a toddler-appropriate full English too. Such a kind touch. I haven't had a veggie sausage that good in ages, and apparently the meat ones were excellent too. Highly recommend it as a calm base for exploring the local area.
