Lochside hotel

I've eaten there several times, hoping they might have hired a new cook, but I keep coming away disappointed. The fish cake, for example, seemed to be about 80% mashed potato, and it came with big chips that had a mashed-potato-like texture too. The other dish was a hamburger. The meat was okay, but the rest was those awful chips, bad bread, and a small bit of some kind of salad. This is only about the restaurant.

The view was stunning, and the room was even better than we expected. We were at Lochside for our honeymoon on Islay, and everyone there made us feel so welcome and looked after. Breakfast was both tasty and convenient. We'd happily stay again.

We dropped in for dinner and had a fantastic evening. The food was delicious, there was a great choice of drinks, and the service and atmosphere were lovely. Thanks to everyone at The Lochside Hotel & Restaurant!

We had dinner at the restaurant one night and drinks in the bar on two separate evenings. The restaurant food was good, and so was the waitress who looked after us there. The bar has a good whisky selection and fair prices, but service there was disappointing. On our first night, the waiter said the restaurant area was closed but didn't suggest anywhere for us to sit. We were lucky that a woman left and we could take her table. It was stained, and he didn't wipe it until we asked. Even then, he did it very unprofessionally. When we ordered snacks, he dropped four plates with the forks at one end of the table and left. It was shocking. The setting, atmosphere, and food are really nice, and I think the place has a lot of potential. They should at least train the staff.
