University Arms Hotel

Every stay here has been superb, and we’ve been back several times. Maggie in reservations was very responsive and accommodating to my husband and me, while she and the team, especially Toby on concierge, made everything feel just right with their thoughtful touches. The hotel itself is beautiful, the restaurant is excellent, and it feels like a calm oasis in busy Cambridge. We left feeling properly rested and very well cared for. Thank you, Maggie and the team.

Parker's Tavern is a lovely place to eat, with a good menu and windows looking onto Parker's Pieces. The glass has some of the colleges' crests worked into it. I also really liked the library, which feels like a college library, only with comfortable seats and a huge fireplace. Very relaxing. The bedroom was enormous, mostly Cambridge blue, with a comfy chair, desk, huge bed and the usual things like a coffee machine. The shower room had underfloor heating, fluffy gowns and towels. Staff were helpful and professional, and the food was tasty. Highly recommended.

A classic hotel in a convenient location, with gorgeous art and style throughout. The shower pressure was great, and the friendly staff made the stay easy. This is how a hotel stay should be.

The building and setting are beautiful, and I enjoyed the Christmas afternoon tea. The waiting staff were friendly, though service was a little slow at times. The welcome at the restaurant entrance was a real letdown. The maître d’ or front of house needs serious training. I was met with a cold “do you have a booking?” instead of a cheerful “Good afternoon, welcome to The University Arms Hotel.” There was no enthusiasm or warmth, which is especially disappointing at Christmas. A smile and a proper welcome on behalf of the hotel should be the bare minimum.
