The Yurt

The yurt is right in the village, with the beach only minutes away, and it’s a beautiful spot. It’s huge, stunning and done in a gorgeous traditional mogolian design. The stove is easy to light and makes it cosy, the futons are really comfortable, and having a shower and loo nearby plus fridge access in the shed was great. I’ve camped on Gigha every year for ten years, but the campsite is closed while being relocated, so this time we stayed in Hannah and Joe's yurt. Now I’m not sure I can go back to the tent. The garden has hens, guinea fowl and turkeys, and we loved spending time with them. A week after getting home, we still miss them, even the turkeys thundering around the yurt in the morning! Hannah and Joe and the lovely girls are such a lovely family. They think of every detail and couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Gigha is still my favourite Scottish island, and a very special place. Thanks for a wonderful holiday, Joe and Hannah. We’ll be back.
