We enjoyed our three-night stay at Atholl House, from the welcome at arrival to the very comfortable room, lovely bedding, and spotless surroundings. Every staff member we met was welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast had a great range of choices, and we had two lovely dinners at the hotel, followed by drinks in the lounge, which has a home-from-home feel. We knew ahead of time that there was no Saturday evening meal, so we booked The Old School, just a two-minute walk away. The food and service there were excellent as well. Jennie and the whole team made the stay; in our opinion, they’re exceptional.

Jennie is an attentive, great host, and the breakfast and dinner were well prepared. The service was great, and the rooms were very clean and well looked after. It’s a lovely place to stay while exploring northern Skye, with picturesque views. We enjoyed sitting by the fire with a beer in the front lounge. Highly recommended.

After a bad stay at another place on Skye, we landed at Atholl Guesthouse by chance and what a relief it was. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful and spotless, and the shower was wonderful. We also ate at the top restaurant, one of the best we visited during nearly three weeks in Scotland. Breakfast was a delicious, generous continental spread, and the cosy lounge was a lovely place to chat over a drink in the evening. Our front-facing room had a nice view, and the fairly central location made it easy to explore the whole Isle of Skye. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

As non-residents, having a drink in the lounge at the end of a rainy campervan holiday felt like a bit of luxury. We’d made a last-minute choice to dine at Atholl House and were glad we did. From the moment we walked in, it felt warm and comfortable, and the service stayed genuinely friendly and attentive. The meal was impeccable, with the pate of the week, a great venison casserole, chicken, ham and leek pie, a fantastic choice of sides, and a delicious pecan and whisky tart. A real gem in Dunvegan!

We were visiting from the US and booked our room months ahead. Dunvegan is a bit of a drive, west of Portree and a few minutes from Dunvegan Castle, which is worth seeing. We were glad we looked beyond Portree. Atholl House sits beside the country road, but it was quiet. There are eight rooms, and ours was on the top floor with a glimpse of the loch. It was lovely, spacious, very clean, and tastefully designed, with everything in good repair. The large bed was comfortable, and the heated towel rack in the big bathroom came in very handy for drying our wet clothes after rainy days. It rained all three nights, but we still managed to see the attractions and came back soaked. The warm fireplace in the lounge was a welcome place to thaw out with a glass of wine, cider, or beer while waiting for our table. Try the dark berries cider! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the best service we had in Scotland. Book a table well ahead, possibly days ahead. We had a table for each of our three evenings and heard the hostess turn a lot of people away. We loved the venison and lamb shank, and also recommend the duck confit. Breakfast was amazing, with fresh fruit and local products presented beautifully. Atholl House made us feel better than at home.
