Jane and Fred made our two nights at Riverside the best accommodation experience we could have imagined. We were soaked after a long hike in the Scottish rain, and Jane offered to dry our coats and clothes. She even took it upon herself to dry our boots, which I never would have asked anyone to do. It made a huge difference for the next day of exploring. Fred helped us plan that exploring too. On our first morning he sat down with us, gave us maps of Skye, and talked through the highlights and how to put together an itinerary. He also suggested local pubs with live music in town. Their home is immaculate, and our bedroom and bathroom had everything we needed. Fred and Jane greeted us so warmly when we arrived. Jane’s breakfasts were among the best food we had on our whole trip, and her homemade marmalade, made from her grandmother’s recipe, is the best I’ve ever tasted. They’re the absolute best hosts in Scotland. I’d highly recommend Riverside to anyone visiting Portree.

Fred and Jane were so lovely that I don’t have enough kind words for them. We arrived at the very last minute, and they still managed to meet all our needs. The house was lovely, with clean, spacious rooms and comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious, and afterwards Fred showed us the fun things to see on Skye on a map. I’d recommend this to anyone. 10/10.
The hostess was really friendly and gave good tips on local things to do and things to know. A wonderful place to stay.
