Elfin Cottage

The hosts were brilliant when we had to rebook after our original dates fell just as the UK went into lockdown. They even had a bottle of fizz waiting in the fridge for our arrival. Elfin Cottage is warm, cozy, beautifully finished and has everything you need, with quiet fields around it. It's peaceful and a little tucked away, yet close enough to Skye's main places to visit. We couldn't recommend it more.

Watching deer come down to feed nearby each evening was such a treat. The location was lovely, and the cottage was spotless, which matters a lot to me. We had everything we needed because our host had thought of it all. A perfect place for our return trip to Skye, with very pleasant, welcoming hosts.

Elfin Cottage has a lovely little patio for an evening dram, and it's thoughtfully equipped and furnished with everything you need. It's five minutes outside Portree, close to the main sights around Skye but quiet enough to come back to for a peaceful evening. We've stayed here twice now, and Allison and Bruce were just as hospitable this time as they were on our first visit. For a secluded romantic break, it's a must. We'll book again next year, and I'd say book too. For a dram or two, you could head to the award-winning Raasay Distillery over on Raasay or to the world-renowned Talisker Distillery in Carbost.

The location is very good, and the shower's great. The kitchen is small, but about what you'd expect. My only gripes were the early checkout and the condensation on the big picture window.
