The garden was beautiful to wander through, with lovely places nearby for a walk while still staying close to the hotel. Seeing animals around the property made it feel especially peaceful. We had a great time and hope to return soon. We stayed two nights, with dinner there both evenings and breakfast each morning. The food was delicious and locally sourced, and everyone was very polite. Everything was amazing, from the room and meals to the service. One of the best places we've ever stayed, and we still recommend it.

The building has so much character, and the grounds, drinks, staff, and setting were all incredible. We loved that they welcome dogs. If you're after a classic Scottish stay somewhere wild, this is a great choice. A wood-fired sauna could make it an even cooler place to stay. Just an idea!

Google Maps got us there even though we arrived at 9:30 pm. Dinner was amazing, and the chef really knows their stuff. I'd recommend the venison. The staff were kind and so helpful, and the rooms were lush, with big bathroom towels, a nice touch. The perfect hotel for us. Wish we'd stayed more than one night.

The staff were great, and our spacious room had a view of the lake. The property itself is beautiful, with lovely views and a quiet atmosphere. It's quite out of the way and not near much, which was a downside for us. My only other complaint was the scratchy sheets. I have sensitive skin, and their rough feel made sleeping a little uncomfortable.

The dessert I had on our second night was unusually wet and tasted off, so I left most of it. I became unwell that night with clear food poisoning symptoms. The next morning I discreetly told staff about it and asked for the item, about £12, to be taken off the bill. The response felt uncomfortable and unconvincing. They asked me to describe my symptoms in detail, then soon said they'd already checked with every other guest who'd had the dessert and nobody else was ill. That seemed highly unlikely given the timing. They left the charge on the bill. There was also an issue with the room arrangement. Before our stay, the hotel offered to let us keep the same, smaller room both nights after a cancellation, instead of moving rooms. We agreed, partly because it seemed to help them reassign the larger room. We'd paid an extra £10 for the second night and were told it could be refunded against food and drinks. At checkout, the manager said this should never have been offered and at first claimed we'd booked through Booking.com, though we booked direct. He said he'd follow up and call, but never did. When we finally reached the staff member who'd made the original offer, she said she didn't remember the conversation. We ended up paying for an upgrade we didn't receive. It was a mixed stay that left us disappointed. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. In both cases the hotel's response felt defensive, inconsistent, and short on accountability. My sense is that this came from the manager who was there that final morning.
