Jennie was a really friendly host and had left delicious vegan flapjacks for us when we arrived. We spent a wonderful week in Macleods View Cottage in September 2024. The cottage was comfortable and the views were just as stunning as promised. We had lovely weather for walks around the area, including a pretty woodland path to Dunvegan castle and a route to a standing stone from that same path. The cottage was very well managed, and I’d highly recommend it.
The little extras made this such a relaxing week: home-baked bread, homemade jam, coffee and hot chocolate sachets. The Cabin was comfortable, even when the weather outside was especially rough, and had all the creature comforts we needed and more. The hosts were accommodating and helpful. The property is well placed in a village with the necessary amenities, near places of interest such as Dunvegan Castle and only a 30-minute drive from Portree.
The views from the Velux windows, out to the mountains and surrounding area, were stunning. This loft apartment has been carefully designed, with thoughtful details like blackout blinds in the bedroom and bathroom, plush carpet with a bouncy underlay, and a boot tray. It was easily one of the cleanest and most comfortable apartments I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in quite a few. Jenny was friendly and welcoming when we arrived, showed us around, and left a lovely food parcel. The place is set up very well for self-catering, with a cosy living area, a well-equipped kitchen, and a comfortable bedroom and bed. There was good wardrobe space, an en-suite with shower, toilet and sink, and even a washing machine available for a small fee, plus a washing line. Shops and places to eat are within walking distance, and there are plenty of leaflets and books with information about places to visit, shop and eat. I was impressed by the overall quality and attention to detail. I’d definitely recommend this apartment, and I’ll book it again when I return to Skye.
I was already looking at when I could come back before we’d even left. MacLeod's View is a beautiful holiday home, and we were impressed throughout our five-night stay. The property is beautifully appointed, the owners were very helpful and accommodated our requests, and the location made a great base for exploring Skye.
The huge window gives you unbelievable views, and I barely needed the TV. I stayed in the lower apartment, "McCleod View", below the upper apartment, "The Loft". It was fantastic: spacious, clean and beautifully presented, with two good-sized bedrooms, a huge lounge, and a similarly large kitchen and diner. There’s space by the door for boots, bags and coats, plus plenty of storage. The WiFi was great and there was Freesat TV. Thoughtful extras included maps, walking books and birdwatching guides, along with a clothes airer and dryer that came in handy. The welcome pack was lovely too, with bread, porridge oats, eggs and gorgeous jam. I was sad to leave.
