The staff were excellent, I couldn’t fault them. The location is good and the morning views are beautiful, but the hotel itself feels rather twee, and the sky-high prices are hard to justify. Breakfast was £18, and haddock with a few chips cost £24. I can’t believe what they charge for what you get. The rooms were comfortable enough, but you can hear everything outside the door and through the floor. There are no car park facilities.

The hotel is right in the heart of Portree, so it’s easy to walk anywhere in town. The staff were kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable, and we’d definitely return. We had an excellent three days exploring Skye. Our Family of 4 room had plenty of space and was extremely quiet, set at the back away from street and bar or restaurant noise. It had one large bed and two chairs that fold out into singles, though I wouldn’t recommend the fold-outs for adults. Breakfast was excellent, as was dinner if you reserve a table. Parking is limited and unreserved, but we always found a space when we got back in the evening.

The restaurant food was very good, and the location was great for travelling around the isle. Service was generally just okay. Katrina in the restaurant was friendly, efficient, and good at her job, and Dragon, who ran the bar, kept the whole place ticking along. Those two made the stay much better than it would otherwise have been.

Dulse & Brose was a real highlight of our Scotland meals. I had the lamb shank, my husband chose fish and chips, and we both loved everything. The staff handled my food allergies brilliantly. Get the bread and butter, especially if you miss Orkney butter in the US, and save room for the sticky toffee pudding. It was the best. We were so glad we booked. At the Bosville, we loved how easy it was to walk downstairs to the pub, and breakfast there in the morning was great. Our room was cozy, spotless, and came with a lovely tea setup, snacks, and water. The tub was big enough for a full-size mermaid, which turned out to be me. Thoughtful touches made it one of our favorite stays in Scotland. The staff were so considerate. They went out of their way to make my husband's birthday special, and it meant a lot. We'd happily book again and recommend staying here.

At 330 GBP a night, this felt like a rip-off. The room was dark, and both it and the hotel were very basic, with nothing special to justify the price. It was clean and well located, but the town is so small that other hotels nearby would be well located too. They may call it four star, but I definitely wouldn't.
