The Isles Inn

The bar was nice, and the staff welcomed us warmly when we arrived. My wife and I ordered food at about 5:45 pm. It came 20-25 minutes later looking gorgeous, but it was cold when I tasted it. My wife's meal was even colder after she came back from the bathroom. I asked the waitress to take the food back, and she said one part of the plate was a bit warm. I told her the plates were cold.

We got what we needed without a long wait, and the staff were friendly. It's a laid-back place, half pub and half restaurant, so don't expect fine dining or waiters hovering over you. The pub was busy on a Tuesday night, with the usual pub grub menu. Everything was nice, though the mains were better than the dessert. A good, solid pub.

The place had a great atmosphere, and the service was impressively quick despite how busy it was on New Year's Eve. The food was good, but the portions felt so small. My husband got the venison, around £30, and it was about half the size we'd expected. My pie tasted nice, though I always find it disappointing when there's puff pastry only on top instead of shortcrust all the way around.

The live music made for a great last night on Skye, and for anyone visiting from outside Scotland, it's a lovely place to get a feel for the culture. We came for dinner on our first night and it was packed, so we had a few drinks while waiting. The staff put us at ease, then served us promptly and politely once we sat down. The food was great and ticked all the boxes. When my partner began feeling unwell, they were considerate and accommodating. We promised to return for the dessert we'd missed, and the next night they remembered us, got us seated quickly, and the dessert was worth waiting for. Thanks to the staff, we'll see you again.
