After a long day on the trails, the clean room, big comfortable bed and good walk-in shower were just what I needed. I’d arrived without a booking and was lucky to find a room at this charming hotel. The couple who run it were lovely and helpful. There was a small flat-screen TV, kettle, tea and coffee, and even a boot room. Breakfast cost extra: juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt from the buffet, followed by a tasty cooked meal made to order. There’s no restaurant for evening meals. I went out in Jedburgh on Monday at about 8pm but couldn’t find anywhere still serving food. The large Co-op and small Morrisons were open then, along with takeaway options.

The host was friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable during our two-night stay. Breakfast was served in the morning for £25, with a good choice of cooked and cold food. It’s a very nice hotel, and I’ll stay here again.

This was easily our best stop on the Borders Abbeys walk. We were made to feel welcome and well looked after, and the breakfast was excellent. I’d highly recommend it to other travellers.

The management gave us great tips on things to do nearby, better than what I found online through tourist information. We stayed last July during the Jehharts Callents Festival. The hotel was great, the room comfy and clean, and breakfast each morning was a full Scottish one to die for. I mean that in the best way, it was delicious!

The welcome was nice and warm, and the service was lovely. The rooms are clean and spacious, though a bit dated. Breakfast was good, with lovely bacon, but the scrambled eggs weren’t the best. All in all, a decent stay. Mary Queen of Scots house was excellent and free to visit, though we left a donation.
