There was a good selection of drinks and meals, though our food was just OK. I had the steak and ale pie, which was neither bad nor anything special, and my wife thought her trio of sausages was OK too. They did make an effort to fit us in at the last minute despite a tight reservation schedule, which was good. No real problems, but we weren't blown away.

The food was incredible and seriously good value, well worth the wait. This is a Timmy Taylor’s Pub, and its excellent selection of great ales didn't disappoint either. We arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday expecting to get a table without a problem, but didn't sit down until 8pm, so I'd recommend booking for meals even midweek.

The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, and the food and drink are great. It's a very nice place to stay and relax after a long wander on the moors 😁. The location is excellent for all the sites, though parking is very restricted and can take some finding.

We booked a meal for three, and it was £190. The pigs in blankets with honey were undercooked, with raw sausages, one piece of bacon between the four, and no taste of honey. I told the waitress, who said she'd inform the chef, but we got no feedback. The Thai soup had a chicken bone in it. When we raised that, the waitress called it human error. The way the food was put on the plates, as the pictures show, made us think there was a young chef working without much care or thought. There was no ham hock on the menu. The waitress said the ingredients had only arrived that morning and that it takes hours to cook, despite saying it takes at most an hour. It seemed there was no chef to cook the food properly. At 2.30, a young chef was at the back of the main service having a cigarette. My daughter's curry was a smaller portion than before, and it used to come in the centre of the plate. The chicken Kiev was bland, dry and burnt on the outside, served with mash. The waitress had to handle our complaints, and I wondered where the owners were to explain the food. Such a shame, since our previous meal was good. Judge for yourself, the pictures say it all.
