Hilary and Graham made us feel so welcome, and Graham’s fresh breakfast, made with great quality produce, was a highlight. They’re both keen cyclists, and Hilary invited me to join her club friends for a ride through the Tour of Britain’s Stage 1 start point before the race began. That was an amazing experience. Our dog was welcome too. We loved how peaceful our few days felt, and the Bellevue was a great base for enjoying Kelso, walking along the River Tweed and visiting the beautiful grounds and gardens at Floors Castle. We’ve just got home and are already grateful to our helpful, knowledgeable hosts for such a relaxing stay.

We felt at home right away, thanks to the welcoming owners and Graham, who knew the area so well and made our stay memorable. The room and bed were clean and comfortable, with all the facilities we needed. Breakfast had loads of choice and was cooked just right.

We had a great stay at this friendly guest house. There’s convenient parking, and it’s an easy walk to the shops and restaurants around the main square. The bed was very comfortable, with lovely linen, and the owners were warm and welcoming. We also enjoyed the food at the cobbles bistro pub, which is within walking distance of bellview house. We’ll book again when we’re back for the championship dog show in Kelso next year.

The breakfast wasn’t as advertised, and we weren’t given a full breakfast. In the bedroom, the biscuit packet dates had been rubbed off, so the stock seemed quite old. There was hair in the bed and on the basin and shower, and a smell from another room’s toilet spread through the upstairs hall. The room was cramped because of all the furniture, and it was dusty, with cobwebs on the windows. We found the man there very annoying. We wouldn’t recommend this guest house to other travellers. We stayed another week in Kelso, happily at a very nice hotel in the square. There are plenty of decent places to stay in the area, so I’d advise against this one.

A quirky place, and we had a lovely couple of days here for the country music festival. The room was clean and good, with a well-stocked tea tray. Breakfast was tasty and excellent. The owner was chatty and clearly cared about giving good service. A lovely stay all round. Vee
