The only thing we missed was a hot cooked breakfast. They offered a continental one only. We stayed two nights at Gilpin Bridge County Inn, which makes a handy base for exploring the southern Lake District, although it stands on its own with nowhere within walking distance. The staff were warm and friendly, our room was clean enough, and the dog friendly room had no sign of previous dog hair. We ate there one night and found the food perfectly edible at about standard pub prices. The bar and outdoor area were nicely arranged. We’d stay again and recommend it, especially if you have a dog.

The food was amazing, tasty and beautifully presented, and the staff who served us were lovely and friendly. Our vegetarian daughter had the Moving Mountains veggie burger and thought it was amazing too. We went for a family meal and really enjoyed it. It’s dog friendly as well, so I’d definitely recommend it.

We ate here three days running, twice for dinner and once for lunch. Everything came piping hot and tasted delicious, with competitive prices and very good coffee. The staff were delightful and the service wonderful. It’s a huge, beautiful place, so you’ll need sat nav to find the toilets. The toilets were spotless, and there’s free off road parking. A sheer delight to eat here.

We had a fantastic time over Valentine’s weekend, and will definitely come back. My husband, our toddler and I stayed there, and the staff made us feel so welcome. The rooms were exceptionally clean and cosy, with plenty of tea and coffee. We had dinner in the pub area, where the food was excellent, especially the berry crumble. There’s an indoor and outdoor play area where our little one could burn off some energy before bed. We also played pool and a round of darts by the bar. The aquarium was only 10 minutes away, and Windermere about 20 minutes.

The rooms only missed top marks because we haven’t stayed in them before, though I’d guess they’re lovely. The service, atmosphere and generous portions were faultless, and the place is great value. There’s a play area for the kids too. 🙌
