We brought three ducks along to Hillgarth Holiday House, and they seemed to have a great time. The place is tucked away in a peaceful little cul-de-sac; there aren't any shops close by, though at least one pub is an easy walk. There's also room for several cars on the driveway. Inside, it’s set up brilliantly, with everything from books and board games to a well-equipped kitchen. The heating was easy to adjust and made the house feel welcoming. Hot water was good too, although you might need to top it up if you're running a bath and taking a shower around the same time. We had an amazing stay and would happily recommend it.

The beds were comfortable, the furnishings were good quality, and everything was clearly looked after. We had no problems at all during our stay. The cottage was spotless and had all the things that make it feel like a home away from home. I'd highly recommend it, and expect we'll come back.

We’ll be back. The owner was great at keeping in touch before our arrival, and the house was beautifully presented and spotless. It’s in a lovely, quiet spot away from the crowds in Bowness and Ambleside.

Hillgarth was a lovely, comfortable home for our week, with everything we needed inside and a gorgeous garden where we enjoyed a few barbecues. The Wi-Fi worked well when we were looking up walks and places to visit. It was easy to get out to lots of different spots from here, including Kendal, Windermere, Ullswater and the coast for sea views. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely come back.

Everything we needed was there, and it worked well for the dog too. The beds and living room seating were comfortable, and the kitchen appliances were top quality. A great place to stay.
