I had a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast in this beautifully situated guesthouse, surrounded by a stunning area. I enjoyed some fantastic walks: from the guesthouse to Barrow Fell, from Seatoller to Scafell Pike, with the first part by car, and from Whinlatter Forest to Lord's Seat and Barf.

We had the family room Loweswater, which worked well for one adult and two children. It was quiet and had great views from the window. Breakfast was a lovely cooked meal, and our table looked out towards the hills. A parking space had been reserved and provided, which was convenient. Thank you!

Loved the OS map feature wallpaper. We also enjoyed a free slice of cake in the afternoon, and breakfast was tasty. The room was comfortable and immaculately clean, and the location was great. An excellent stay.

A drying room was available, the showers were good, and the beds were comfy, with radiators you could adjust. The guest house was good value, clean, well decorated and efficiently run. Breakfast was a good full English, and the room had quality local tea and coffee sachets and biscuits. There was also a piece of cake in the lounge in the afternoon. Entry to the front door and rooms was by card. We met host Emma at breakfast, she was friendly and helpful.

Fern Howe Guest House is in a perfect location, with super accommodation and good, clean facilities. Breakfasts were excellent, and the hosts serving them were friendly. We can’t fault our stay.
