Jim was welcoming and helpful without ever being intrusive. The room was spacious and spotless, and breakfast each morning was excellent. Fresh muffins for the drive home were a lovely touch. The location is peaceful, with stunning views and the genuinely calming sound of a stream running outside. There’s a really nice pub in Dockray just five minutes away, and it’s easy to get to everything you need. Would highly recommend, and we’ll definitely return.

The hosts have thought of everything, and the breakfasts were the best. There are plenty of walks, with recommendations available from the host. A great place to stay.

Jim and Tine are warm, friendly, and clearly very skilled at running a beautifully presented B&B. I felt relaxed and at home, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Jim also shared a little about the house and the furniture in our room, which was a nice touch. The homemade bread and muffins were top notch. Thanks for another wonderful memory!

We could give the car a rest and walk straight from the B&B. It’s a quiet spot close to Ullswater, with lovely rooms. Jim and Tine couldn’t do enough to help, and breakfast was excellent and extensive, with fresh-baked muffins in our room each day. Highly recommended.

The cottage is lovely, and the rooms are spacious and warm. The hosts are really friendly, always ready to help, and have great local suggestions for walks and pubs. Breakfast has an almost endless range, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices as well as a classic Full English. We never went hungry. They also offer freshly baked muffins daily and can provide a pack-up lunch. We can’t recommend Lowthwaite enough!
