There are so many great walks starting right from the door, and the setting is amazing. It’s a comfortable place to stay, and Nigel, Trish and the team make you feel at home. They’re welcoming, the food is always wonderful, and they’re happy to do whatever they can to help.

There are loads of mountains and walks to explore from this valley, in a spectacular part of rural Britain. Back at the hotel, there are cosy lounges, a drying room and a small bar. The catered food each evening and morning was delicious, and the accommodation was excellent, with remarkable hosts.

The staff made us feel at ease straight away, and drinks and snacks outside mealtimes worked on an honour system. The accommodation is a beautiful rabbit warren of wonderful spaces, and the food was incredible. It sits in its own idyllic spot in the Lake District National Park. The family and I will be visiting again, dogs included.
