Rothwell House Hotel .

We felt uneasy and unsafe throughout. The room we were supposedly upgraded to smelled of weed, and none of its few windows would close, so it was freezing. There was also a fire exit inside the room. The “family room” had three single beds, a cell-like feel, and spiders crawling over the pillows. The photos below show what we found.

The staff were brilliant, and after two weeks it felt like home. There's a bar, pool table and a comfy lounge with a big TV, plus shops, pubs and restaurants right on the doorstep. Lovely place. I'll definitely be back.

The place felt filthy and unsafe, with paper-thin walls where you could hear everything, a dodgy atmosphere and a lot of riff-raff hanging around. There was no night manager if anything went wrong. I ended up leaving in the middle of the night and going to the Premier Inn at 5am because it was so bad. Even though I was a guest, the hotel gave me a parking fine for using its car park. I was only there for a few hours before leaving, and they waited a week to send it, so it arrived close to the due date. Please save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.

The rooms are small, but have what you need, and the car park isn't very large. It's a good-price place to stay if you don't need luxury.
