Gainsborough House Hotel

The room could use some attention, and the window needed cleaning. The bed itself was clean and comfortable, though it only had two pillows. Noise carried from neighbouring rooms, including people moving about and snoring. The bathroom and breakfast were okay. Breakfast was self-service, but while other guests were asked how they'd like their eggs cooked, nobody asked me.

I don't usually come across hotels this good on work trips. The Gainsborough House Hotel made a great impression, especially the staff, who were friendly and ready to help with anything. After my long journey, I was welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine, and the lounge and bar felt warm and cosy. My room was spacious and spotless, with a very comfortable bed and pillows. There was a bath, plus handy extras like a hairdryer, full-length mirror, iron and ironing board. Wi-Fi was free and worked well, and there was a large TV, tea, coffee and biscuits. Breakfast also had plenty of choice. I'd found the hotel at the last minute for a two-night work stay. I often stay in average places and am glad to leave, but I was very happy here and would definitely come back. A really warm welcome.

The rooms are a little dated, but they were clean and the bed was huge. For the money, it was brilliant value, and it's close to the safari park. Every member of staff was friendly, happy to help and went above and beyond. Top marks, thank you.

Vish, the hotel manager, was lovely and really attentive. He was keen to help however he could. The room was pretty standard for the price, though the bed was very comfortable. I'd give it five stars if breakfast didn't finish a bit too early. Might come back if I'm in the area.
