Lyonshall Lodge

Our dog loved the posh chaise lounge, fleecy blanket, and new toy, and the breakfast was amazing, especially the sausages and other high-quality local produce. Izzy was a lovely host and nothing was too much trouble. Another wonderful weekend at Lyonshall Lodge. The Old Studio was spotless, comfortable, and finished to a very high standard. Excellent quality and value for money.

The location made it easy to explore. There are lovely places a short drive away, and the nearby villages and towns are nice to wander around, with pretty houses and welcoming country pubs. We especially recommend Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre, which has lots to see and is only five minutes from the Lodge. We had a fabulous few days at Lyonshall Lodge visiting Izzy, Ethan and the girls. The Old Studio had everything we needed for a break in the Herefordshire countryside. Local goats even came by! The place was wonderfully dog-friendly, and Jasper loved the forest and river walks right on the doorstep. The room was beautifully clean, with a super-comfy bed and a great shower room. Izzy brought fresh, delicious breakfast to our room every morning, and it certainly set us up for the day. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Izzy and Ethan, and Ella and Moët too, of course. It's a good base for seeing rural north Hereford, east Wales and south Shropshire. The B&B is about three miles from Kington, which has a Co-Op, petrol station and several takeaway options. It's a lovely little place to stay, with a large bedroom, a shower and toilet, and cosy bathrobes. The room was quiet, warm and comfortable, with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits. The TV gets all the major channels. Outside the room there's a veranda with a table and chairs, handy when warm, dry weather happens to show up, which seems rare these days. Izzy brings breakfast to your room each morning. We had a full English, and she was happy to give advice about the area, restaurants and takeaways. Plates, glasses and cutlery are available if you ask.

The Lodge is easy to find and well signposted, just off a quiet main road. Kington is only a few minutes away by car, with a supermarket and a few shops and pubs. I always enjoy spending a night or two at Lyonshall Lodge to get a break from urban life. From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed and looked after right through to driving away. It's a great place to relax and switch off, and I'd highly recommend a visit.
