The Burton Hotel and Cloud Nine

They found us a spot where the young children could play without bothering other guests, and checked in on us throughout the meal. We had a big group for a birthday lunch, and there was plenty of food. The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. Thanks for helping make the party such a success.

Thirty minutes with Gemma, the sports therapist, got me ready to play again after I'd put my back out on a trip for a golf tournament. Before that appointment, playing was very much in doubt. Her knowledge and explanations were outstanding, and I'm heading back next month for a longer session to sort out the rest of me. The pub and spa were great too, and the staff really helpful. Just superb.

The restaurant was so good that we ate there both nights. Dinner was excellent quality for the price, and breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very good as well. The hotel itself was very good, though Kington has little to offer. We got our room even though we arrived a little early, and Tegan showed us around. She seemed to be everywhere at once, a very busy young woman. Our family room had a small double and a single bed, plenty of storage, and a good-sized bathroom with two sinks and a shower over the bath. Guests can use the linked gym and pool for free. There’s free parking, and it’s a handy base for the Wye Valley. We can see why people return, and we’ll come back sometime.

The rooms are a little dated, but they were clean and had everything we needed. After a long day walking Offa's Dyke, being able to use the spa facilities at no extra charge was amazing. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the food was very good too. A great hotel.
