The views are stunning, and the cottage is lovely, cosy, clean and well kept, with a very warm welcome. Great for a relaxing holiday or keen walkers, with a good location and great pubs for eating out. Susan was very helpful with any questions. One thing to know is that the road up to the cottage is narrow in places, so a big car might have trouble. Apart from that, a great place to stay.

The cottage is lovely, well equipped and in a beautiful setting, with spectacular views. It was cold at first, though with a fire roaring it’s lovely. I suspect that was the time of year and it probably wouldn’t be a problem in summer. The new property manager responded quickly and sorted the heating issue, and I couldn’t fault the response. Looking forward to the rest of the week! Thanks for acting so promptly, the heating works perfectly now.

The valley views are beautiful, and the cottage has loads of space, with three bedrooms, two loos, a living room, dining room, big kitchen and laundry room. We stayed in August 2024 and found it one of the best-equipped Sykes cottages we've used. The owners have added thoughtful little touches, too. The enclosed garden has a patio overlooking the valley and a small stream. With sheep and cattle nearby, though, I'd keep dogs tethered in the garden and on leads on local walks. There are plenty of walks, but watch for free-roaming sheep and shut gates behind you. The driveway and lane are steep and rural, with a 7-foot width restriction, though there's parking right beside the cottage. If you like stargazing, bring a telescope. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

We loved being able to set off walking from the door and leave the car parked all week. We covered 82 miles, including Howgills summits, Wild Boar Fell, and lower-level routes around Uldale and the limestone pavements nearby. The remote setting was a real plus, with cuckoos, curlews, oystercatchers and even a red squirrel in the garden. Being there during lambing season was especially lovely. The cottage is much bigger than the photos make it look, and the garden views are incredible. Robert and Sara made us feel at home straight away, and the place is exceptionally well equipped and generously stocked. After muddy walks, the outside tap and hose, entrance hall, hard kitchen floor and washer-dryer were handy. The Aga dried our gear and made great baked potatoes, while the Aga, storage heaters, electric radiators and wood burner kept us confident we'd be cosy in any weather. There are a couple of short unsealed stretches on the access lane, but it was in decent shape and no trouble in our small car with low clearance. We will be back.

Spent a really relaxing week here with my brother, his family and my partner. It felt so homely, and the owners had thought of everything. Those little finishing touches made us feel very welcome. Would happily recommend it.
