We were in town for a wedding and arrived at 11.30am. The friendly, accommodating staff let us into our room early so we could get changed. It was spotlessly clean, and breakfast was great, with good-quality thick-cut bacon rather than cheap supermarket stuff. Our only issue was some noisy local 'wildlife' for a short time. Our room faced the market square, and it was a Saturday night, so the hotel couldn't really be blamed. We'd definitely stay again.

Worst meal I've ever had. The steak and ale pie was a joke, with no meat in it, just processed stuff. The Smash tasted awful, the drinks were watered down, and the microwave chips are best avoided. It wasn't cheap either. I don't even feel like giving them one star.

We had a lovely weekend here. The rooms were very clean and in good condition, and the inn's food was excellent. I had the steak and ale pie, proper comforting food. All the staff were kind and helpful. I accidentally left my mobile behind when checking out, and they arranged to post it back with hardly any fuss. They really do go the extra mile with service.

We stayed here for our day off while hiking the coast to coast. The room was very large, spacious and clean, and the inn is right in the centre of town with its own pub for food and drinks. The only bother was the number of flies, though they were everywhere, not just at Pennine Inn.
