Castaway Guesthouse

We only stayed two nights, but Stacey was so welcoming, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and she makes a great breakfast. Both mornings I got stuck into my amazing full breakfast and forgot to take a photo. The twin room was modern, immaculate and cosy. It’s right by a hot water and central heating tank that keeps heating up all night, though. There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread in the room, along with a kettle and hairdryer. We could park safely in the guesthouse's private car park, and the location was easy to find and handy for everywhere. My daughter and I have great memories of Orkney, and this guesthouse added to the experience. I'd have no hesitation recommending this lucky find to friends.

Breakfast is served in a shared dining room, and the hostess was very helpful. The room was comfortable and seems to be in a purpose-built annex. It's fairly close to Hatston ferry terminal for Aberdeen and Lerwick, but not very close to central Kirkwall, so having a car is best.

The guesthouse looked brand new throughout, with tidy, clean rooms and nice decor. Breakfast was on time and there was a good assortment. It would be hard to find better anywhere else, let alone in Kirkwall.

A friendly host, spotless rooms and a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was lovely, both in quality and quantity. I'd highly recommend it.
