The owners were helpful and friendly, taking time to explain our local options. We chose to get a Chinese takeaway and bring it back, and they even let us have a draught beer although the bar was closed on Monday. It's also super close to the train station, about 250 yards after you walk into town and turn left. I'm definitely staying here again.

For what you pay, this place is shocking, a real Faulty Towers kind of experience. It cost over £1200 for three days, and even queuing for a drink was unacceptable. They mixed up my room, and I actually walked in on a couple. It was really embarrassing. Surely they should have known someone else was occupying the room. Very poor service.

The place is clean, comfortable and simple. I was accidentally charged twice, but the refund process went smoothly. The manager was helpful and understanding. I'd recommend it.

The single room's view was exceptionally beautiful, even though the bathroom was outside the room. The owner, ‘Magdalena’, is a treasure. She came from South Africa to be the heart of the hotel and the closest hostel. The hotel is decorated with a lot of love, and for anyone who cares about cleanliness, the clean carpet in the downstairs bar says it all. Breakfast was insanely delicious, pancakes and toast prepared in the bar downstairs. We'd happily check in again just to see that smile at reception.

In many hotels I end up in the ‘drivers room’, but that wasn't the case here. I stayed in the hotel itself and found a small place with real character. The greeting was fantastic, the room was fabulously clean, and the shower and bed were both good. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful. Bigger, more prestigious places could learn from them: clean really means clean, and helpfulness is more than just a word. Attention to detail matters. Well done to the staff, I'd definitely recommend it. Geoff, coach driver
