Ferry Inn Stromness

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside it's a cosy, friendly bar. Great selection of Scapa whisky, too. I didn't eat here, though the food looked good, so I'll try it next time.

The hake fillet could've been a bit bigger, but it was still a lovely evening at this polished pub restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff were all lovely, and we got a really warm welcome in pleasant surroundings.

We started with a scallop, black pudding and bacon roll from the seafood van outside, and it was so good we went back for seafood chowder. The staff were lovely and attentive, and there was a decent pint from inside as well.

The bar has good beers and a great atmosphere, and the rooms are bright, spacious and newly refurbished. Breakfast was excellent, as were the staff. The man who looked after us, whose name I never caught, was really nice and told us about the island's festivals and midnight golf tournaments. My partner left her hoodie behind, and we found it hung up in the breakfast area the next morning. The only thing keeping this from being five stars all the way was that the restaurant was closed until April. Luckily, Adams Place next door was first class. Definitely a great place to stay in the Islands.
