Cartland Bridge Hotel

We had a small hot water problem because the -7 temperatures affected the boiler, but Scott, the manager, handled it in a friendly and professional way. On arrival the staff were very welcoming, our room was comfortable, and we enjoyed both our meal, served by the friendly waitress Emma, and breakfast. We’ll definitely be back.

The staff were really friendly and the rooms were nice, but breakfast was mixed over our few nights. The first morning was fantastic, then on the second we sat waiting for over an hour before asking and being told the kitchen electrics had blown. That wasn’t anyone’s fault, but we should have been told instead of left sitting there. The blueberry pancake stack had no blueberries and wasn’t a stack, just two soggy crepes swimming in maple syrup. I ordered a smoked salmon bagel on two mornings and was told both times the salmon hadn’t come in.

A perfect place to get away and relax. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We had an excellent meal and service, and would happily recommend it to friends and book again.

The surroundings were beautiful, and the staff were amazing and friendly, always happy to help. The hotel itself felt old and very outdated, though, and the room was cramped with half-sized pillows. It was extremely hot, only suitable if you can sleep in subtropical temperatures. The window above the fire escape wouldn’t stay up and came down like a guillotine, which didn’t feel safe. At breakfast, all five of us ordered and not one order was right.
