The room was spotless, the shower was great, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was a treat too, with fresh fruit and berries, yogurts, and local food cooked fresh. I was only here for nine hours while travelling from the Isle of Man to London, but it was such a warm, welcoming place. The attention to detail was lovely: fresh milk, proper coffee, several teas, cookies, jelly beans, and water with glasses by the bed. It’s dog friendly as well, if that matters to you. I’d love to come back for a relaxing weekend. Thanks for looking after me.

The Ashton is the best B&B I’ve stayed in. James was a marvelous host, and the room was a delight, with a great bed and soft bedding. Breakfast was excellent and generous. On arrival there was homemade cake, a complimentary wine, and a lovely chat with James. Those little touches made the stay stand out. The building is in a great spot, peaceful but within walking distance of town, downhill at least. If I’m back in Lancaster, I’ll definitely return.

Lovely breakfast, with strong coffee to get you going. The rooms are big, comfortable and stylish, and the bathrooms have plenty of space and powerful showers. There are comfortable shared areas too, plus a very good honesty bar. The house white is an Italian Sauvignon Blanc, which says a lot. Excellent value for money. A real gem if you’re staying nearby.

James gave my partner and me such a nice welcome, with Pimms and a selection of cakes when we arrived. The room and the rest of the house were beautiful, finished to a really high standard with lots of care in the details. We’ll definitely be back. Can’t recommend it enough.

We’ve stopped at The Ashton for years on our regular drives from the South East of England to the West coast of Scotland, since it’s about halfway, and James has always taken such good care of us. It’s comfortable and classy, the food is great, and the welcome is warm. The hospitality is the best part of a long list of things to like. For us, The Ashton is the only place to stay around Lancaster.
