We spent £120 on a Christmas dinner takeaway because our nan was too poorly to cook one herself. It was worse than a school lunch. The portions were tiny, and the food was cold after a two-minute walk home, which it shouldn't have been. The only vegetables we got were sprouts, carrots and red cabbage. The meat was a tiny mouthful, and might have been delicious if there'd been more of it. Half the order was wrong as well. The stuffing was overcooked and dry, the Yorkshire pudding was rubbery, and the meal was disgraceful to call a Christmas dinner. The local homeless shelter ate better than we did. We won't eat here again.

The meat selection at Sunday lunch was good, and everything was very nice and good quality. But pork with no apple sauce? I didn't hear the end of that, so it's four stars. Shame!

The hotel itself is good for a stay, but the staff were the real highlight. My car broke down while I was there, and their help was key to finding a solution and arranging recovery to my home, over two hours away. I really appreciated their help and service, and would definitely stay again.

There were only 12 people in the restaurant, yet we waited over an hour for our food. The three of us went to steak night, and it was the worst meal any of us had experienced. My steak was swimming in blood and wasn't cooked as requested. The gammon had a strong off taste and smell, the egg was so overcooked it had shriveled, and the onion rings were soaked in oil. We won't be returning.

The comfy sofas and lovely decor made us settle in for a drink and lunch, but they weren't serving food, so we ended up with a packet of crisps. That was disappointing. The staff, wine and atmosphere made up for it somewhat, and the beautiful outdoor area was tempting. I'd like to return when they're cooking.
