A real pub gem, with a warm, friendly feel and a fire burning. There were loads of imaginative choices on the menu, and the prices felt reasonable. We paid £43 for homemade steak pie, an eastern chicken curry, a shared ice cream sundae, and a pint and a half. Both meals were delicious.

We stopped for lunch with relatives, and the pub was a convenient point between Worcester and Hereford before heading down Fromes Hill. Friendly welcome, good food, and they checked allergies with the chef. Great atmosphere too.

We’ve returned for the beef burgers, and the portions are still huge. They’re so tasty you keep eating until it’s all gone. The open garden is lovely for a meal or a quiet drink, with plenty of room for kids and dogs. Staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help, and there’s lots of parking just metres from the entrance. Three happy Bulgarians will be back very soon.

The staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful, and they were happy to change my meal. I chose the steak and ale pie from the menu, but swapped the chips and peas for seasonal veg, mashed potatoes, and the bacon and onion gravy from the liver special. It was absolutely delicious. My partner had the fish pie and enjoyed hers too. First time at the Wheatsheaf, and it won’t be my last.

They were happy to adjust my dish, replacing the potatoes with extra salad, and offered rice or veg as well. It’s a friendly locals’ pub, with plenty of gin, whisky and beer to choose from. The gin is mostly Gordons and Whitley Neill, with some other options too. There are two specials boards, one in the dining area and one in the bar. Lovely food and staff, and I’m planning to return.
