Advo Hostel

A handy little place with self-contained, self-catering accommodation and all the basics covered, including a cooker, washer-dryer, microwave, fridge, TV, Wi-Fi, bed, wardrobe and bathroom. It’s really cheap for what you get. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and the owner will make an effort to accommodate you. Check-in is simple: the details arrive by message on the day, closer to your arrival time. The city centre is only a few minutes away by car, or an easy short bus or taxi ride. I've stayed a few times and will keep booking here when I'm in Leeds.

We saw a mouse within five minutes of arriving. The room was down some really steep steps. I told the owner, and he came to help and went out for supplies. I managed to catch the mouse while he was gone; he took it away and dealt with it, then said he'd work out some kind of partial refund. The host was friendly when he came to help, but I haven't been able to reach him since. After weeks without hearing anything, I messaged a few weeks ago and got no reply. He also sent me pictures and videos of the mouse afterwards. The place was really dirty, with spiders in the corners and on the bed above the ceiling. The bathroom door didn't work properly, and the floors were filthy. My completely clean white socks turned black and were covered in hair and dirt. I wouldn't go back.

The landlord was lovely and very helpful, even sorting out a couple of things like the heating and replying straight away. The place has everything you need and is great value. A cab to the city centre is only £5. We'll definitely return. Thanks!

We had a really comfy, undisturbed night's sleep, possibly the best bed I've slept in, and the room had everything we needed. Since nobody had stayed in the room before us, the host let us check in early at no extra cost, which was a lovely gesture. Check-in itself was easy and efficient, and the host answered our questions promptly by text.
