Faye at reception was extremely helpful and gladly arranged a taxi for our party. The rest of the stay was enough to put us off this hotel and its chain for good. We had a bad feeling as soon as we arrived. People were milling around reception, and it was obvious their stay was funded by the tax payer. The rooms were reasonable, but had no USB charging points and the toilet was difficult to flush. Screaming kids next door woke us in the early hours, then again at 6am. Breakfast was horrendous. They'd run out of bacon, there were no muffins or pastries, the coffee was undrinkable, and the orange juice was really just insipid pale yellow juice. The surroundings didn't feel welcoming, and the breakfast area was full of guests who weren't self-funding. If I'd known the hotel was accommodating guests at the behest of the Government, I wouldn't have stayed. That should be made clear when booking. Despite IHG's claims about caring for the customer experience, it seems obvious they only care about making maximum profit from Government contracts. We'll never visit one of their hotels again.
