The room itself was perfectly good, but arriving late made check-in a huge hassle. The instructions were complicated: I had to go to a separate building to collect a key from an unattended desk, then find the accommodation building. Finding my way through two dark alleyways late at night wasn't ideal and would put me off booking again. I think they should make this arrangement clear in the booking information.

The apartment was really clean and well equipped. It had a large kitchen and living area, plus two big double bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms. The location is great for a night out in Leeds, with the main bars just a two minute walk away.

The apartment was gorgeous and central for shops and bars, but unfortunately it smelled of smoke. We were told to check in at reception, so we buzzed the door, then had to phone. The receptionist said we needed to go to another building, but there hadn't been any message about that on booking.com. Not a great start.

The suite was comfortable and good value both times I've stayed at the Basinghall site, and I'd happily return. It's a high quality place in a great central location. Bars, restaurants, shops and Express supermarkets are all a few minutes away, and it's an easy walk to the train station. Check-in is at their other site, around the corner just off The Headrow, since this building has no reception. The desk has limited hours, but I knew self check-in was available outside them. I also knew there'd be a sizeable deposit for breakages and the like. In my experience, it comes back within two working days. The reception staff were efficient and had my key cards ready in minutes. The outside of the building is plain, though the inside looks nice and fairly elegant. It was very quiet all evening. Both times, I was given a suite a little below ground level, down a few steps and facing an internal courtyard, so the view wasn't inspiring. The other floors have lift access. Inside, the suite was clean with decor I thought was very tasteful. The living area was very large. Along the back wall was a kitchen with a full size fridge, worktop, Bosch cooker and hob, washing machine and dishwasher. They supplied a dishwasher tablet, cutlery, dishes and other cooking and cleaning implements, plus two complimentary bottles of water in the fridge. The bin was a bit bashed in, which spoiled an otherwise immaculate area slightly. Across from the kitchen was a dining table already laid for two. I can't say I like that, as it just lets dust gather, though the plates and table looked clean. There was also a comfortable sofa and armchair, and a Samsung TV with full access to their Apps. The bathroom was a good size. Both the overhead rain shower and the smaller shower head worked very well, there was plenty of room by the basin for bathroom products, and the towels were good quality. Dressing gowns were provided too. In the bedroom there was another Samsung app enabled TV, a chest of drawers, bedside tables on both sides, and a wardrobe with a safe. The bed was big and very comfortable, though quite low. I'd prefer a higher base. I had no major problems and found the stay relaxing. On both visits, though, the air conditioning seemed completely ineffective. I imagine it could get uncomfortable in hotter weather, given where the suite is in the building and the limited airflow. As it was, keeping the windows open as much as they could, which wasn't much, made it fine. In the evening I also noticed there were no cups in the cupboards, and some cutlery was missing from the table. They turned out to be in the dishwasher, unwashed, which was annoying and made me wonder whether staff check the appliances regularly after each stay. In the circumstances, these were minor annoyances and didn't take away from a very comfortable stay at a good price.

We stayed for a week and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The apartment was beautiful, very clean and had a luxurious feel. The staff were as friendly and accommodating as could be. I was surprised how quiet it was despite being right in the city centre. Highly recommend it for a stay in Leeds.
