The peaceful, luxurious feel of The Dakota made this stay a dream, and we’ll absolutely be back. I booked a Grand Deluxe room as a surprise for my husband’s 50th birthday, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Valet parking was easy: we handed over the keys outside, and the team took our cases straight to the room. Before checking in, we left my husband’s gift bags with Lewis and the team, who made sure they were delivered to our room. We started with drinks in the main bar, then asked about the Champagne Room and were quickly shown to a table where our friends could join us. With champagne and flawless service from Lewis, it felt like Dakota heaven. The room had underfloor bathroom heating, dressing gowns, slippers, a fully stocked bar with wine, beer, and snacks, plus fresh milk for a proper hot drink. The Molton Brown toiletries were a lovely extra. The hotel manager also left a card wishing my husband a happy birthday and a good stay, along with a thoughtful display of chocolate and fruit. Breakfast was excellent, with loads of pastries, including dangerously good chocolate and salted caramel buns, and a full English cooked perfectly. We were surprised they didn’t have brown sauce when we asked. That wasn’t a big deal, but the streaky bacon wasn’t to our taste, though others may enjoy it. Late checkout was a blessing and gave us time to enjoy the room, including the magazines and books. From start to finish, the service felt five-star, and the atmosphere was calm and luxurious.

The welcome at reception was excellent, and room 604 was clean and pleasant, with a bed, TV and shower. It had no mini fridge, and the room felt basic for a five-star hotel. Breakfast was only average: a small buffet, with hot food cooked to order. I went when it opened but still had to wait to be seated. I chose Dakota Leeds because the midweek rate was under £200 and not much higher than less highly rated places nearby. I don’t stay in many five-star hotels, but I couldn’t really see what made this one five-star. At full five-star prices, I might be disappointed. Still, I’d come back to Leeds and stay here again at the same rate. Next time, I’d probably get breakfast in town.

Georgia made sure our requests were handled before we arrived and that the room was warm and lovely. She even gave us a beautiful candle, thank you! Although the hotel is in a busy part of Leeds, we didn’t hear any outside noise. The service was amazing from start to finish, and the room was spotless and well kept. The beds were so comfortable, and I loved the strong, refreshing shower. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it.

We tried The Grill on NYD, and the food and service were incredible. The staff we spoke to were also genuinely friendly and welcoming. It was our first stay at Dakota, though we’ve been to Leeds many times, and the rooms were stunning, clean and had a real luxury feel. The B&H toiletries smell amazing too. We’ve found a new favourite hotel and restaurant, and we’ll absolutely be back. Thanks, everyone!

Step outside and there are loads of bars and restaurants, with Leeds shopping just a few minutes away on foot. The Dakota’s location is perfect. We were welcomed warmly, and even the entrance smelled amazing. The slippers in the room were the most luxurious I’ve ever had at a hotel. I stayed last night and had a delightful time. Would highly recommend it 🤩
