Lerwick Hotel

The sea views were great, and the restaurant was okay with decent portions. The rooms, though, felt tired and worn, and the rates were overpriced. My previous guesthouse was much cheaper and vastly better. I don’t know why I moved here, I should’ve stayed there. I expected something classy, but the place felt dated and run down. You’re paying for the view, and you could just go outside and see it, maybe from another hotel. The bathroom had several problems. The shower came out so fast it left water around my ankles after I’d finished, and its window wouldn’t open. The bath plug got stuck, so I couldn’t drain the extra water. The shower gel bottles were tiny and hard to use while showering, and the gel wasn’t great quality. A public path runs along the seaview, so in many spots, including your room, passers-by can look straight in. That’s not always ideal. Breakfast was a massive disappointment. The continental spread was lacklustre, just a little fruit, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, croissants and a couple of kids’ cereal boxes. They did offer a cooked breakfast to order, but that wasn’t anything to write home about either. The sausages reminded me of school-grade ones and were extremely poor quality. It’s okay, just don’t get your hopes up. The website pictures make it look much nicer.
