the black swan

We came in with my wife and parents while visiting leyburn and needed somewhere to eat. Mum and my wife had pies, while Dad and I went for the black swan burgers. The burgers were huge, tasty and really filling, and I struggled to finish mine. I tried a little of my wife’s pie too, and that was very nice. Everything arrived quickly and looked good, with no complaints about the price. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff friendly, and it’s dog friendly. We’d visit again, 10/10. Ignore the 1 star reviewer.

The cooked breakfast was fabulous, and there’s a good range of cask beers. We found the room comfortable and the staff cheerful and friendly. There’s plenty of free parking, and Leyburn is a lovely village with no graffiti or litter that we saw. We stayed one night and will return. If you’re booking a room, I’d phone them first to get the best chance at preferable rates.

The meal was delicious and generously portioned. I had the beef Sunday lunch, which was tender, with homemade Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. My partner’s steak and ale pie was a huge piece and very tasty, so we’d definitely eat here again. I was a little concerned while we waited because the place looked somewhat unloved. They’re looking for new managers, which might explain it. We weren’t staying, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

The room was good value, with a comfortable bed and plenty of space in both the room and bathroom. The kitchen closed at 8pm and the bar at 9pm, which was frustrating as this hadn’t been mentioned when I booked.
