Lingwood Hall

There’s plenty of parking, and the rooms are quite spacious. Alex was really helpful, and the landlady is a sweet woman. A lovely place to stay.

We booked because it’s dog friendly, and the grounds were lovely for little walks. The owner was very friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. The room was self contained and had what we needed, plus we could use the large lounge and conservatory. A really nice place for a long weekend. We’ll go back.

There was no hospitality, not even a hospitality tray, and the owner spoke down to me when I called because the code she’d sent wouldn’t let me into the house. Turns out I was in an outbuilding. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all year. The floors were dirty, the sheet had a revolting stain, and there were insects everywhere, especially spiders. I even found a slug in the washbasin. My right arm is covered in bites and turning yellow. It was cold in every sense of the word. Absolutely disgusting. I’d rather have slept in the car than be eaten alive by insects.

After a 14+ hour day, I arrived to find a very rural place with no food on site. The room did have a kettle, microwave, toaster and fridge. I was assigned an attic room and told its shower wasn’t working, so I’d need to use the one a floor below. I chose a hotel in the town centre instead, closer to food, though the host did try to accommodate me. This was just a one night stay and doesn’t represent the whole establishment. People in hospitality aren’t trying to give guests a bad experience, and anyone can have an off day.
