Manor Guest House

We had a peaceful stay over the bank holiday weekend, with a few pubs within walking distance. The two-bed apartment was just the right size, and we slept well. There were all the self-catering facilities we needed, and the shower was lovely in the morning. The host was friendly too.

We've added another night and are loving it so far. The one-bedroom self-contained cottage has everything we need, so just bring personal belongings. Janet and Kevin are really friendly and helpful. We'll definitely come back.

We had a great couple of nights in the Luxury room, just the sort of room I wanted for a York stay, and the price was reasonable. The breakfast room was unlike any I've seen in a B&B, really stunning. There were thoughtful extras on the landing too: a guest station with a fridge stocked with milk for tea and bottled water, plus shelves of spare towels and toilet roll. The other amenities were great as well. It's a quiet, convenient spot about 25 minutes by car from the city, with fairly regular buses and a few local pubs. We recommend The Mended Drum for dinner, around 20 minutes west and worth the trip. Book ahead! We'll look to stay here whenever we're in the area.

The studio was just what we wanted for a last-minute booking, and it was clean with everything needed for self-catering. The hosts were very helpful both with arranging the booking and during our two-night stay, and gave us lots of useful local information. We had lovely weather and enjoyed the beautiful gardens, with plenty of tables and seats. The property was easy to find in a peaceful, quaint village, yet close enough for trips further afield. It made an excellent base for reaching lots of places while still having somewhere quiet to return to.
