Wood Hall Hotel and Spa

The conference was very well organised, and lunch was good. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. When I got home, 117 miles away, I realised I’d left my Kindle Scribe pen, which costs £70 to replace, in the conference room. I called the venue and they offered to send it back free of charge. It arrived three days later. I never got the staff member’s name, but thank you for going above and beyond.

The wedding itself was a fantastic day, and several staff were great, especially the woman behind the bar. Checking in with my wife was the part that put a downer on the venue for me. We’d been promised a 3pm check-in, but our room wasn’t ready. That was fine, but the man at reception, Richard I believe, was incredibly rude and brushed us off with “it’s getting cleaned now” without saying when it might be ready. He didn’t mention checkout times either.

Our two dogs were made welcome with beds and their own food and water bowls from the hotel. The room was lovely, and both the food and service were great. I also had a full body massage with Georgia. She was amazing and talked me through the aftercare, which I really appreciated. I’d highly recommend it.

The tasting menu was the highlight of our Valentine’s Day stay. It was fantastic and really good value, and the waiters were welcoming, professional and very knowledgeable, which made dinner feel special. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere, and our room was clean and comfortable. We had a great time and would happily come back ❤️
