Forest Holidays Deerpark Cornwall

Another great stay at Deerpark. From our late Friday check-in to the Saturday bar service and the clean cabin, everything was faultless. The team’s service was so good that it’s been a while since I’ve had an experience like it. They made our children feel really special at the bar, and Sharon deserves a special mention for her warmth and kindness.

We loved the five nights we recently spent at deer park. Lodge 13 was a great choice for a bit more privacy, and we think 11, 12 and 13 may be the best ones. Our lodge was by the river, with wonderful wildlife coming to visit and owls calling through the night. It’s a cosy place in the forest, just right for a relaxing break. We had a pet-friendly lodge but didn’t bring a pet, and the place was spotless, clean and light. Jules checked us in and was so friendly, as were the rest of the team. A big thank you!

We wouldn’t go back. The cabin was dirty inside and out, and the toilet smelled of pee. We found sex toys in a bedroom drawer and told reception, but nothing was done. Staff also said someone would come by to deal with the smells and cleanliness, but nobody showed up. The online photos don’t match what it’s like in person: the lake looked stagnant and overgrown. I’d avoid using the internet there because it isn’t secure; I’ve been having accounts targeted for hacking. For the price, you’d be better off at centre Parcs. Avoid.

I booked this break for shortly after Christmas because I’d been working through the holiday period and wanted some time to relax with my 14-year-old daughter. Instead, we had a string of problems. The drains were blocked for the first two days, and the shower tray filled up and overflowed into the bathroom. The cabin looked clean at first, but on closer inspection it was covered in cobwebs and needed some care. At 9pm there was a power cut. Emergency lights came on, then went out at 1am, leaving us in complete darkness. The outage also took out the internet until nearly lunchtime the next day. I’d paid extra for premium internet and lost it from 9pm Monday until nearly 12 on Tuesday. We were told to expect another five-hour outage for repairs later that day, but after waiting and asking what was happening, we were told it would now be sometime Thursday. Thursday came and it was day three without internet. Being online matters to my daughter. I’ve emailed the company twice about the lack of customer service during and after our stay and haven’t had a reply. Judging by the reviews, they seem to respond to positive feedback but not deal with negative comments.
