Angmering Manor

I've been here a few times and it's been fantastic every visit. The food is great and the waiting staff are lovely, with a good chef too. The restaurant closes a bit earlier than you might expect, but that's understandable in a quiet village that never gets crowded.

The breakfast was delicious, better than some I've had at 5-star places, and I had a comfortable two-night solo stay after finding an excellent deal on booking.com. Staff were friendly, and it's close to family. The gardens, traditional restaurant and setting look lovely for weddings or functions. I would stay again, though I'd bring a travel kettle or Nespresso machine next time. The room was clean, with fresh paintwork and linens, but felt a bit grim and more like 3-star than 4-star. It was old-fashioned, and the bathroom fittings and kettle could do with an update. The water seemed hard, so the kettle could have been descaled or replaced. There were coffee sachets, no pod machine or mini fridge. The bath was very large, but there wasn't a separate shower. The bathroom blind was dirty, too small and needed replacing, and the window looked out over the entrance and car park. The toilet kept running, though shutting the door kept the noise manageable. Parking was easy and reception was quick. The pool looked nice, but it was out of order until 1 pm when I tried to use it on Saturday 31/10 in the morning. The sauna needed heating, and I didn't want to wait when I couldn't swim. I only noticed after booking that paranormal events had been listed, but I wasn't scared and had a nice time.

We had a lovely stay, and the included breakfast was very nice. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful with information. Our room was spacious and furnished nicely. The Christmas decorations were probably the best I've ever seen, with no expense spared. Can't wait to come back in 2026.

The four of us each ordered something different at the restaurant and all really enjoyed our meals. Breakfast was just as good, with generous portions and great quality. We were given a complimentary room upgrade as a birthday surprise for my partner's mum, and both rooms were lovely. From the moment we arrived, none of us could find fault with the place. The manageress, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, was brilliant and so helpful. A comfortable, excellent stay, and we'll definitely be back.
