Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa

The spa and massage were top level, with great explanations and hands on care, plus good aftercare. Our room was spotless, just what we wanted, with a view over the 18th fairway and green. Bar staff and reception were fantastic when we arrived. The food was great too, the best club sandwich we've had and a world class steak. Breakfast service was a little slow even though it was quiet, but all in all it was a great birthday break for my partner. We'll be back.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the relaxation treatment was incredible. We were even welcomed to use the facilities before check in. Staff were easy to find and helpful without hovering over us during our one night stay. We'll definitely return.

Soner Oz made my boyfriend's birthday dinner extra special. He was warm, kind, and went above and beyond, with nothing too much trouble. The hotel and our room were beautiful, very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the food in the restaurant. We came to Formby in January for a last minute birthday trip, and really appreciated the lovely service.

We've stayed here before and had good experiences, so it was disappointing to find the standard had slipped. We won't be coming back. We upgraded for my birthday to a loft room, paying an extra £100, but it was smaller and less practical than the standard rooms we'd had previously. The supposed upgrades added little: the bath TV took so long to tune we couldn't use it, the coffee machine was broken, and the sink drained poorly. The food in the restaurant was nice, but service was poor. At breakfast we asked for tea and coffee when seated, but finished the meal and toast before anything arrived. There were only three other tables and we couldn't see staff around. In the evening it was quiet but service was again very slow, with little staff presence. One person seemed to be managing the bar alone. The spa was a letdown as well. One room wasn't working, and the locker rooms had no clear instructions for using the lockers.
