D Luxe Hotel

Tracey welcomed me warmly at reception and was really helpful. The room was very clean and fresh, with a decent shower and fluffy towels. It was better than I expected for a 3 star hotel. The bed was comfortable, though I could have used another pillow, which is just my preference. I enjoyed the steak pie at Oscars, the onsite restaurant, which has a good range of choices for most tastes. A very nice stay, and I’d come back.

The staff member who checked us in was lovely, but her shift ended at 5pm, so we couldn’t even complain to her. There were young boys in the bar area during the night, which made us feel very uncomfortable. We booked two nights in a family room but left after the first night. Both beds had big fleas in them, and when squashed they were full of blood. Absolutely disgusting. I didn’t even shower, and the horror of the fleas had me clawing at my skin all night. We left at 5:30 in the morning after that first night. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here.

We told the hotel we’d be arriving very late, after 1 am, and were told a night porter would be on duty. There wasn’t one. We knocked for over 20 minutes and nobody came. This hotel isn’t reliable. Don’t give them your business.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location suited me, with several local amenities close by. My room was quite tight and cosy, though a bit dated and in need of a fresh lick of paint.
