Cringoed Holiday Park

It was quiet around the site, probably because it was off-peak, and the nearby road didn’t make much noise. A lovely walk takes you into Llanbrymair, and there’s another up to the stone circles. In the van, you can hear the dawn chorus. The toilet block was clean, though the hot water seemed to have run out by evening. There’s a decent washing-up spot with a fridge and washing machine, plus a playground for kids and a field for walking dogs.

The park looked neat and clean in the morning, and the setting really is lovely. Our cabin was cosy, warm, clean and comfortable, even though we were only there one night. We did have trouble finding our way around after arriving in the dark at 6pm. It felt as if the park had closed for the season, since it was late October, and our online booking may have slipped through. The owner picked up every call and was very pleasant, but it would have been better to have someone greet us in person. That lack of service is why I took off a few stars.

The only letdown was that the games room was closed, so my son couldn’t use it. The owner was a really nice bloke, easy to get on with and always willing to help or respond. He even lent us extension leads so we could pitch our tents a little out of the way. It’s a lovely campsite in a remote spot, with a river running around it, and everything was in excellent shape, including the clean toilets and shower room. We also went over to Aberdyfi, which is a lovely place and well worth a visit.

We’ll definitely come back. The staff were friendly, and it was quiet, in a great location and easy to find by car. Facilities were clean and easy to get to, including the showers, toilets, dishwashing area and laundry with a dryer.
